condensation

1. A chemical reaction in which two or more molecules, e.g., of an adhesive, combine upon the separation of water or some other simple substance. If a polymer is formed, the process is known as polycondensation. See also: POLYMERIZATION . 2. The process of changing from a vapor into a liquid, as when steam condenses into water.
