colored paste-papers
Decorative endpapers produced by mixing color with
paste and soap and spreading the mixture over two
sheets of paper, which while still wet, are
pressed together. When separated, the transfer of
color from the sheets produces a mottled effect on
each. Colored paste-papers are sometimes used for
covering books, although they have little water
resistance unless waxed. Green, red, and blue are
among the most commonly used colors. See also: COLORED ENDPAPERS ;PASTE PAPERS .
