cationic (substances)

Substances, such as dyes, tannins, oils, etc., which ionize when dissolved in water, so that the characteristic ion—dye, tannin, oil, etc.—is the cation and has a positive charge. Cf:ANIONIC (SUBSTANCES) (305 )
