book blocks
Flat, smooth boards of varying lengths and
thicknesses, with one end shaped to fit the spine
of a rounded book, and used to support the cover
while pasting down the board paper or leather
joint, and also when tooling the turn-ins or
doublure. The block prevents strain at the joint
of the book.
