bookbinder's type
Individual letters and number of ordinary type,
without handles, designed to be set in a LETTERING PALLET or
BLOCKING PRESS ,
and used to letter books. The use of the pallet or
press gives uniformity to the lettering and saves
time, but it does not give the freedom and
individuality that is available with the use of HAND LETTERS . Type,
on the other hand, is extremely useful when
lettering a number of copies of the same title.
