Stevens Point

E Pluribus Unum, Richard C. Schneider, 1982
E Pluribus Unum is a Latin phrase which means "one from many." In this case, many small tiles were used to create one large picture. In fact, 286,200 ceramic tiles were used to create this artwork! Another way this sculpture is "one from many" is that it is one project from many hands. Construction was a three-year community effort and most of the people who helped were volunteers.

Math quiz: There are 286,200 individual tiles, but only 28 different tile designs. Estimate the number of tiles needed for each design?
