Frank Steunenberg, Governor of Idaho (1927)
by Gilber Riswold
Governor Steunenberg was assassinated while trying to enforce the laws of the state. This
monument was commissioned to memorialize his work for the citizens of Idaho.
The artist designed the sculpture so that the governor was wearing clothing typical of the early 1900s when he was in office. Describe how the governor is dressed. How is it different from fashion today?
Who is the current governor of your state and what are his or her achievements? How would you create a sculpture to honor your governor?
