Hallo Jennifer,
I had have such problem by an asian textile because of the big fire in Word
War II in our museum.
We had labels from plastic for our inventory numbers. One of this was melt
on this textile. I had removed it dry mechanically. In the areas where it
was only melt on the surface it was easy to remove it, but in that ones
where it was melt into the cloth it was very difficult to remove it. I had
done this work under the microscope because it was better to see where and
how I can remove the pieces. The work were done by neddles, scalpel,
tweezers and vacuum cleaner for museums.
Sincerely
Christine Müller-Radloff
