Just to echo Karin's amazement - there are plenty of French textile
conservators in France. There are at least two training courses turning
them out, the Sorbonne in Paris and IFROA in Lyon. We've had interns
from both courses, though they often serve their internships in
Switzerland at Abegg, or in Canada, because of the common language.

Dear Colleagues,
it is with amazement that I follow this thread.
a) what about the members List of Icom-CC Textile Group, which Mary, you
as a coordinator should, I assume, have access to (as unfortunately it
is not available on the internet)?
b) I have searchched the internet and found various Institutions
providing textile conservation services by entering "conservation
restauration textile Paris" into Google....
and c) there is the great online members list of IIC from which I copied
the address below for you, Sarah, because I know that Patricia is
involved with training the French textile conservators and with
conservation politics in the french association, and she is free lance
in Paris...
As France is very centralized in its structure, most free lance
conservators are based in Paris. There really should not be a need
contacting colleagues in Italy or other European countries for that
purpose. Hope this helps!
Sincerely,
Karin von Lerber
