Good evening, TexCon'ers – Here is more information about the Scalamandre
sale:

What Will Be Sold:
After 75 years in a landmark Long Island City location, Scalamandre is
moving their wide width weaving operations to South Carolina. They must sell
a vast quantity of items representing important American weaving history.
Although these items are primarily weaving related, they are at the same
time artistic, decorative and useful in ways other than originally intended.
Among the thousands upon thousands of items being sold will be the last
working coarse index looms, out of production Jacquard looms and punch
cards, loom parts and pieces incl. weights, guides, gears, jacks, spacers,
harnesses, swifts, quills and shuttles, winders, warpers, take-up beams,
warping carts and loom heads representing much of the evolution of looms.
There will be boxes of wood spools, many with custom dyed silk thread,
shelves piled high with skeins of silk, one of a kind runs of silk, piles of
Scalamandre remnants and samples and trim.
Country style wood benches, old stile type ladders, workbenches, tables and
chairs, display materials, other furniture, cabinets, wood boxes and carts,
iron gearing and chains by the hundreds and many other items, to be
determined, will be offered.
Gorgeous, large silkscreens, which were used to hand-block wallpaper, are
artworks to be treasured. In addition there are many wood, aluminum and
titanium silkscreen frames, along with other silkscreen accessories, that
can be reused by artists and craftsmen.
Practical items such as wood and metal shelving, buckets, carts, old floor
fans, office furniture, and a Pfaff ceiling mounted chain hoist, along with
items we haven't even discovered yet, will be available for purchase
throughout the sale.
Come prepared to buy in quantity. The average price will be around $15.00!
And because the factory packing and clean-up will be in progress during the
sale, more inventory will be added daily. There will be lots to buy for
everyone, everyday. Browse the photo gallery.
