Re: AATCC Introduction to Textile Testing Workshop

I just attended the AATCC workshop on Color Measurement. I found it to be
extremely well organized and very informative. Plus I had the opportunity
to meet and speak with a wide range of textile professionals, everyone from
a NYPD forensic scientist, to the master dyer at a small dye house in
Canada, to the head of color testing lab at Land's End! I think that this
workshop could be very useful for conservators and I hope to go next year.
Just a warning - the workshops are expensive by conservation standards, but
you can save $200 by joining AATCC (which by the way gives you access to
technical help from the AATCC staff and and excellent monthly magazine). If
anyone has any questions you can e-mail me through texcons or

This announcement may be of interest. It's from education-dept@xxxxxxxxx

Don't miss out on AATCC's upcoming Introduction to Textile Testing
Workshop on January 23-24.

At this workshop you will learn how to properly perform AATCC colorfastness
and physical properties tests, you will also learn how to correctly use the
AATCC Gray Scales for Staining and Color Change and the AATCC Chromatic
Transference Scale to visually assess test specimens. Emphasis will be
placed on how to properly conduct and interpret tests, with registrants
participating in hands-on laboratory sessions.
