Possibly there are some knowledgables on this list who either
know about oil print process or can direct me to the proper references.
I have manufacturers' labels [same comany] c1890s-1910 with fabric
swatch. Labels will read oil print or oil color. What I would like to
know is
1. are these separate oiling processes or the same
2.are they both connected with dyeing or could one process be an
oil finish treatment during last stages of production.
3. is the term oil boiled part of one of these oil processes or
have a different meaning.
What I would really like is a good reference which details this
aspect of dyeing and printing and/or where to get information on
Standard Oil Printing Co., part of Eddystone/Wm. Simpson & Sons. An
internet search proved futile; about 6,000 entries, most of which appear
to be probably Rockafeller related!
Would appreciate any help.
