Tina Chanialaki--The conservation information network [BCIN] will provide you with about 35 references if you type in "soap" and "textiles" in the subject query line. You may wish also to look for reviews of treatment archives, like A. Fiette's "Tapestry Restoration: An Historical and Technical Survey," in The Conservator (no. 21, 1997:28-36) on p30 he says that soap was not used after 1891 at the Gobelins. Best wishes, M.Ballard

I am looking for information on the Olive oil based soap and the Marseilles soap. Has anyone used them for textile conservation purposes? Could you suggest reliable bibliographic sources?
