ANNOUNCEMENT
A professional designation certificate in Collections Management for
Costume and Textile based collections is being offered through the University
College and Extension Services at California State University, Long Beach,
in Long Beach, California. The course currently includes 72 hours
of classroom time plus outside assignments; a formal, written final project;
120 hours of internship working with the costume/textile collections in
one of the local museums, historical societies or film studio archives
(yes, several archive their costumes.)
The program has successfully completed its trial year and will continue
with a new course beginning February 9, 2002. The course will be
adapted for distance learning in Spring of 2002.
