Textile conservators near Washington, D.C. may be interested in attending a one day symposium at the National Institute of Standards & Technology (NIST) in Gaithersburg, Maryland on the second set of hermetic encasements for the US Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, and the Bill of Rights. The first set of inert gas-sealed cases was designed at NIST about 50 years ago. The seminar will review the history and the changes made with the new set. The cost is $125 (includes lunch).
