A paintings conservator passed on to me the
following message which she had received from
the College Art Association:
"The Scholarly Research Committee at the
National Humanities Aliance is building a
database of scholarly work by identifying
work that "made a difference" in the 20th
century. The database will provide a basis
for a brochure on the value of scholarly
research targeted to members of Congress.
In addition, the database will be used to
generate topical and geographical reports
for use with Congress."
The message goes on to ask that the name of the
author, title, and a few sentences explaining why
one thinks it "made a difference" to one's field be
sent to Marta Teegen at the College Art Association
(mteegen@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx) by June 22nd..
If anyone strongly believes that a specific scholarly
work in conservation has made a great difference to
the field, they should submit it for inclusion in the
database and inform the rest of us.
