Textile Conservation Technician


The Indianapolis Museum of Art is seeking applicants for the position of
textile conservation technician. The technician will be responsible for art
handling, material preparation and mount making as well as providing general
assistance to the Senior and Assistant Textile Conservators. The successful
candidate will have a degree in a field related to conservation (studio art,
art history, chemistry, museum studies, or archeology) and an interest in
pursuing further training, and possibly graduate work, in the field of
conservation. Experience in a conservation lab is desirable, but not
mandatory, as we will provide training.  

The successful applicant will have good hand skills, as well as organization
and communication skills. The salary offered is in the low  $20,000's,
depending on experience, plus generous benefits including health insurance
and vacation and personal days.   This position will begin in spring 2001 and
will last one year, with the possibility of renewal. Please direct all
