The Malta Centre for Restoration is seeking to recruit conservators
willing to perform primarily teaching duties within its Institute for
Conservation and Restoration Studies. This Institute is currently
offering 4-year degree courses in conjunction with the University of
Malta and therefore requires suitably required staff.

I read that amongst the subjects appropriate to the TexCons discussion
and exachange are position announcements related to the textile
conservation profession. The Centre is interested in announcing such
vacancies. I have sent the following text to the ConsDistList but I also
think it pertinent for your subscribers.

I therefore write to enquire whether it would be possible for this
announcement to be included in your next TexCons list. If necessary, the
format of the announcement may be viewed in the above two attachments.

Many thanks for your cooperation.

Dr Martina Caruana
Assistant Director of Academic Studies

Malta Centre for Restoration
Incorporating The Institute for Conservation and Restoration Studies

CONSERVATORS/CONSERVATION SCIENTISTS

The MCR, which operates from spacious premises, is Malta's national centre
for conservation and restoration, providing diagnostic and conservation
laboratory services as well as degree programmes in conservation studies.
The Centre is an autonomous institution set up as a partnership between
the
University of Malta and the Ministry of Education of the Republic of
Malta.
Although largely financed by the Maltese Government, during 1999-2000 it
has
also benefited from a collaboration agreement, amongst others, with the
Istituto Centrale per il Restauro of Rome and financial assistance from
the
Government of the Republic of Italy.

The MCR has vacancies for qualified and experienced conservators and
conservation scientists on a part and full-time basis. The Centre
requires
English speaking applicants with specialisation and experience in any of
the
following:

conservation and restoration of stone, metals, glass, ceramics, books,
paper, textiles, and paintings (murals, panel and easel paintings and
polychrome sculpture).

These conservators will be expected to carry out conservation and
restoration work under the direction of the MCR's Conservation &
Restoration
Project Management Office as well as teaching duties within the MCR's
Institute for Conservation and Restoration Studies.

Remuneration is commensurate with qualifications, experience and
time-commitment.

A letter of application, including a full c.v., should be mailed to
The Director, Malta Centre for Restoration, Bighi, Kalkara CSP12 - Malta.
Queries as well as copies of applications should be sent to
The Assistant Director of Academic Studies, Dr Martina Caruana,
fax: +356 674457, e-mail: (tinauana@xxxxxxxxxxxx).

Short-listed candidates will be interviewed.
