CALL FOR PAPERS

The Textile Conservation Group, Inc. and the Lower Hudson Conference of
Historical Agencies and Museums are cosponsoring a two-day conference on
October 23 and 24, 2000 in New York City entitled Strategies for
Success: Conservation Contracting for the twenty-first Century. This
event will bring together conservators and museum staff and
administrators to discuss the relationship between contractors and
institutions. Speakers from outside the museum community, as well as
salaried or independently employed museum professionals, are encouraged
to participate. All speakers will receive an honorarium. Ample
opportunity for networking will be provided. 

Suggested topics include, but are not limited to: 
*	Relationships between consultants and employers
*	Business ethics and competition
*	Developing a portfolio and marketing materials
*	Marketing and management skills
*	Legal and financial considerations
*	Pricing and billing
*	Lab setup for private conservators
*	The cost of advancing the sophistication of your lab
*	Using technology to make your job easier
*	Getting funding to fulfill your vision

The deadline for submissions is July 1, 2000. Please send or E-mail a
