In August 2009, California Rare Book School (CALRBS) will offer 6 weeklong courses (M-F, for a total of 40 hours of instruction) on topics of interest to librarians, archivists, booksellers, collectors, and students.

Week 1 (August 3-7)

Special Collections Librarianship: Operations & Administration; faculty: Lynda Claassen, University of California San Diego; David Zeidberg, Huntington Library and Botanical Gardens

Rare Book Cataloging; faculty: Randal Brandt, The Bancroft Library, University of California, Berkeley

Introduction to Archives for Special Collections Librarians; faculty: Anne J. Gilliland, University of California Los Angeles

Week 2 (August 10-14)

Descriptive Bibliography; faculty: Bruce Whiteman, The William Andrews Clark Memorial Library, University of California Los Angeles

Books of the Far West, with an Emphasis on California; faculty: Gary F. Kurutz, California State Library

Preservation Stewardship of Library Collections; faculty: Mark S. Roosa, Pepperdine University
