[padg] Preservation Standards and Practices Committee - proposed charge



Please find below the proposed charge of the Preservation Standards and Practices Committee.  This committee is the combination of three former committees: Books and Paper: Methods, Materials and Standards; Reformatting: Analog and Digital; Recording and Photographic Media: Methods, Materials and Standards.

 

Should you have comments about the proposed charge, please contact one of the three former chairs by Wednesday, January 21 (contact information below).  If you will be at Mid-Winter, you can share your comments with the Preservation Standards and Practices Committee at All-Committee, on Monday, January 26, 8:00am, Grand Hyatt Denver, Pyramid Peak B.  Or, you can catch one of us sometime during the weekend.

Proposed Charge: To promote and support the development and use of appropriate methods and materials employed in the preservation of library materials in all formats.  To identify and review relevant information regarding standards, recommended practices and technical reports.  To promote and coordinate section activities and bring potentially beneficial interactions with other groups sharing similar interests within and outside of ALA to the attention of PARS leadership.  Membership is made of 6 members plus one chair, two members for books and paper materials and issues, two members for recording and photographic media and issues, and two members for reformatting techniques and issues.
