[padg] PARS restructuring plan approved

Please find attached the restructuring plan approved by the PARS 
Executive Committee. This plan is similar to the proposal 
discussed during the 2008 ALA Annual Conference in Anaheim but has been 
modified based on comments and recommendations from PARS members. The 
most significant changes are:
1.    Longer transition period
2.    Increased opportunity for chairs and members of current interest 
groups and committees to define their work and select leaders for the 
new structure.
3.    Defer consideration of changing the section to a later date and a 
separate proposal. In the mean time, the section will remain the 
Preservation and Reformatting Section.

Thank you to everyone who contributed ideas via email, conference 
meetings, and informal discussions. Your participation over the coming 
months will refine the focus and direction of PARS committees and 
interest groups that comprise the new structure that will be fully in 
effect at the 2009 Annual Conference.
