Hi Shannon,
The lab responded to exactly that problem when Moffitt was renovated a decade ago. Lets see how others respond and then you might want to check in with Gill on our experience if you haven't already. B.

Dear Preservationistas,Barclay Ogden
Our library just went through a construction project that led to concrete dust covering a fair amount of our shelves and rare books (the covers and textblock edges). Sadly, the visqueen barriers and other precautionary measures were not sufficient for the job. We are now in a position where we need to clean the concrete dust from our shelves and rare books.
Do any of you have experience cleaning concrete dust from books? What would work best and most efficiently? Please e-mail me directly, if possible. Your guidance is greatly appreciated.
Sincerely,
~Shannon
