[padg] Desiccant Chamber Depth

Hello,

I'm working on specs for several table-style library exhibit cases. Desiccant drawers will be included beneath the vitrine. Although I'm familiar with the formula for calculating the appropriate number of grams of silica gel for a given space, I'm still not confident that I know how deep the drawer needs to be. Another curator I know (who uses clay as a desiccant) has compartments that are about 3" deep; however, these are for much larger cases. We would like to avoid making the drawers larger than necessary if possible. The vitrines will be 48 x 28 x 36 and 48 x 28 x 18. Do any of you have similar cases? How deep are the chambers? Have they been adequate? Your collective knowledge and experience is greatly appreciated:) Email me off-list.

Thanks,
