[PADG:1091] Re: Intellectual Access to Preservation Data Interest Group

Tyra,

I won't be able to be there on Saturday morning, but am very interested in how others are using the 583. Is there a way to hear or read what was discussed?

Thanks very much.

Best,
Kris

Intellectual Access to Preservation Data Interest Group
Saturday, June 24
8-10am Rm 340-341 Morial Convention Center

Agenda:

I. MARC 583 Action Note discussion: (the 583 contains copy-specific
information about processing and reference actions, as well as
preservation actions and activities relating to an item):

a. Discussion: Current and potential future uses of the 583 field

b. Discussion (Debra McKern): Request from the DLF Digital
Registry Working Group to use the $l (status) "under preservation
management" when an institution has committed to preserve the digital
copy.

II. Future Intellectual Access Interest Group directions and topics:
ALA Interest Groups can function freely (and generally avoiding many ALA
bureaucratic constraints) to appoint special task forces, sponsor
discussions or programs as well as develop publications. We'd like to
discuss the special role and privleges interest groups enjoy and explore
these in the context of this group. Please bring ideas.

See you there,
Atalanta Grant-Suttee and Tyra Grant, co-chairs
