NCSU Libraries invites applications and nominations for the position of
Collection Conservator. Based in the
Preservation Department, this position will lead the Libraries in
maintaining a
comprehensive collection conservation program with an emphasis on the
working
collection. The Collection Conservator
will manage a new conservation lab currently under construction. The Preservation Department is strongly
committed to addressing the long-term preservation needs of all
formats,
including the Libraries’ collection of three million volumes. The department (7 FTE plus students) includes
a collection conservation unit, a commercial binding unit, and a shelf
preparation unit. Required qualifications include ALA-accredited MLS or
equivalent advanced degree in library or information science and
extensive
knowledge of current conservation principles, practices, and procedures
for the
preservation of library collections. Salary competitive and
commensurate with
experience, not less than $45,000. Please
