Are last copy repositories on the horizon?
The ALA Mid-Winter Meeting for the PARS Preservation Issues in Small to Mid-Sized Libraries Discussion Group will be held at the Hilton Boston Back Bay Hotel, Copley Room on Sunday January 16th 2005 from 8.30 – 11.00 a.m.


Are last copy repositories on the horizon? Come and join this stimulating and interesting panel discussion from representatives with various perspectives and experiences on the challenging issue of repositories. These perspectives include cultural heritage storage issues, an electronic resources repository, a paper repository and a virtual repository. Co-operative collection development for the last copy and procurement will also be addressed as well as the importance of documenting last copy materials in the 583 MARC record.

Electronic Resources Repository
Victoria Reich, Director of LOCKSS, Stanford University.

Paper Depository
Dave Spoolstra, Project Manager, Five College Library Depository in Western Massachusetts.


Virtual Repository
Paul Gherman, University Librarian, Vanderbilt University.

Cultural Heritage Storage Issues
Kristen Overbeck-Laise, Director of the Heritage Health Index, Heritage Preservation.


Co-operative Collection Development and documentation in the 583 MARC record.
