Research strengths at the University include health and life sciences,
business, social work, behavioral sciences, public affairs, and the fine
arts. Sponsored research funding totaled over $185 million in FY03-04,
placing VCU among the top 100 research institutions in the country.
The VCU Libraries (http://www.library.vcu.edu) advances the University’s
teaching and research mission with holdings that exceed 1.7 million
volumes, almost 14,000 serial titles, more than 3 million microforms,
and a variety of manuscript, film, video, sound, and book art
collections. Together, the James Branch Cabell Library (Monroe Park
