I heard the segment on NPR.  This is the machine that Brewster Kahle
uses in his bookmobile to produce books on demand from a digital file
for $1 each.  Because the binding is the quality of something you
would have done at Kinko's, it should never be compared to library
binding.  It might be suitable for one-time or limited use, such as a
committee report or other business document, but would not survive
repeated use or library handling.  The segment did not say whether any
performance testing had been done.
