Stephanie.
The machine that we use is a Bostitch Model 7 Stitcher. It is foot treadle 
operated and belt driven by a .5 hp motor that can stitch at up to 125 
stitches per minute.  It uses both round wire and flat wire and is easily 
adjustable from flat stitching to saddle.  It will stitch from a few sheets 
up to 7/8".
We bought the machine as a reconditioned unit several years ago, and it has 
served faithfully and trouble-free every working day since we bought 
it.  It may be that it has been replaced by a newer model, but you may wish 
to try to buy a used model.
