[PADG:1661] Hell or High Water Preconference

Hell & High
Water: Planning for Disasters an ALCTS
Preconference to the 2002 ALA Annual Conference
Atlanta, Georgia
1 ½ Day Preconference on Thursday, June 13 from
12:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. & Friday, June 14 from 8:00 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.
Cosponsored by: ALCTS and LAMA

Description
Natural and manmade disasters
occur without warning. During these times of crisis, numerous decisions must be
made in order to assess and control damage to your building, your collections
and possibly your staff and patrons. Through case studies, real life situations
and simulated disasters, this day and a half preconference will provide a
framework for creating or updating your own disaster plan. Components include
developing a written plan, collection and building damage assessment, continuing
services, public relations, staff relations and counseling, organizing community
resources and more. By following the Girl Scout motto - "Be prepared" - you too
can keep your library operational, even in the midst of a crisis.
Fees and
Registration Registration fees for this 1 ½ day preconference are
$295 for ALCTS members and international registrants, $345 for ALA members,
$395 for nonmembers, and $195 for ALA student members. Registration is
