[PADG:1307] ILL Stickers

There's been some discussion about "what to do." Dialogue with the ILL
community is certainly a good idea, since there are some ways to use the
OCLC stickers without damage to bindings (as Lorraine and others have
noted). As a former network employee, here's my suggestion for another
track to pursue.

It's my perception that OCLC "listens" (if such can be said) more
attentively to large, well-organized and revenue-generating organizations
than to individual complainants. The two largest OCLC-affiliated networks,
AMIGOS and SOLINET, both have preservation service programs. I would expect
staff in those networks, and their elected members to the OCLC Users
Council, to take some leadership in this area -- by approaching OCLC as well
as educating their members. Likewise ARL, whose members constitute a huge
percentage of OCLC's profits.

Of course, it's entirely possible that this is all a vast CIA-inspired
conspiracy to ensure full, lifetime job security for preservation
administrators and conservators.
