Position at Brown University



NEH PRESERVATION LIBRARIAN,  Brown University Library.  Responsible for
surveying and preserving library collections in the humanities.  Reports to
the Head, Preservation Department.

Works in collaboration with Head of Preservation and other staff to
implement a comprehensive preservation program for the library's humanities
collections.  Evaluates diverse collections for conservation or
reformatting treatments,  ensures that treatment standards are met,
coordinates preservation efforts with other units, develops policies and
procedures for out-sourced operations and works with vendors, participates
in broader humanities collections planning and special projects, supervises
one FTE support staff and student assistants, participates in regional
and/or national preservation activities.

Requirements:  MLS degree from an ALA-accredited library school;
apprenticeship or specialized experience in preservation/conservation;
supervisory skills, initiative, highly developed organizational skills and
creativity; fine motor skills; ability to consider multiple factors when
making a decision.  Minimum salary:  $33,000.  Please send letter of
