New ALA PARS Discussion Group

     For those attending ALA this summer you may be interested in a new 
     discussion group.
     
     
     PARS Photographic and Recording Media Discussion Group
     Saturday, June 27
     4:30-5:30 p.m.
     Library of Congress - Room LM 642
     
     The mission of this new discussion group is to provide a venue for ALA 
     members to discuss management issues, case studies, standards, 
     funding, and technological advances relating to photographic and 
     recording media collections. The discussion will focus on the 
     Pre-Conference "The Transformation of Recorded Sound: Preservation in 
     the Digital Age".  Those interested in providing feedback or 
     discussing issues addressed during the conference are encouraged to 
     attend.  Attendance at the pre-conference is not required.  Gerald 
     Gibson, Library of Congress, will also provide updates on new 
     preservation standards and the previous UNESCO Meeting.  Bring ideas 
     for future topics.
