Summer workshops



The Conservation Center, Institute of Fine Arts, New York University
is pleased to announce thier summer program for
conservators, artists, collectors, art history, library, archive and
museum professionals.  


HOUSEKEEPIN AS PREVENTIVE CARE
Jane Merritt and Julie Reilly
August 6-8
Cost $350
Registration Deadline:  July 12

This course combines lectures, videos, and hands-on training to
familiarize participants with collections care techniques, tools and
equipment.  Lectures will introduce participants to preventive care
measures such as site management, pest control, lighting and display
conditions, and storage.  Lab sessions will demonstrate cleaning
procedures.  



CONSERVATION MATTING, FRAMING AND STORAGE

Cost $350
Registration Deadline: June 20

This workshop combines lectures and demonstrations with hands-on
experience in conservation housing for exhibition, storage, and
art-in-transit.  Each participant will receive sample materials and
produce
reference models for future use. 


ENROLLMENT IS LIMITED -- EARLY APPLICATION IS RECOMMENDED TO INSURE A
PLACE.  A DEPOSIT OF $100 IS REQUIRED TO RESERVE A PLACE, PAYMENT OF
BALANCE IS DUE ON THE FIRST DAY OF CLASS.  STUDENTS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR
THEIR OWN TRAVEL, HOUSING AND MEALS.  PLEASE CONTACT THE CONSERVATION
