Furniture 1st. International conference.
Please respond directly to the author.
Dear Colleagues,
I am writing as chair for ICOM-CC-Wood, Furniture, Lacquer and related
materials (ICOM-CC-W&F).
ICOM-CC-Wood, Furniture, Lacquer and related materials (ICOM-CC-W&F) is
requesting proposals from Museums, National committees of ICOM,
Universities, colleges, conservation-restoration organizations and
financial
organizations to host, co-sponsor, sharing, and support its 1st.
International conference.
I would like first to introduce (ICOM-CC-W&F) in brief.
ICOM-CC <http://icom.museum/> is the International Committee for
Conservation of the International Council of Museums
<http://icom-cc.icom.museum/>.
As an effective International organization network ICOM-CC is the
largest of
the international committees of ICOM with more than 1700 voting members
worldwide beside hundreds of non-voting member and hundreds of ICOM-CC
friends from every branch of the museum and conservation profession.
In brief it is the ICOM Committee for Conservation network for
professionals
committed to the conservation & restoration of the world's museum
collections, monuments, historical sites and culture property.
ICOM-CC-W&F built up of specialists, conservators, scientists, technicians,
curators, architects, engineers and other professionals, who work or
interested in conservation and restoration of wood, furniture, lacquer and
related materials and who actively collaborate, study and promote the
conservation and analysis of culturally and historically significant works.
It covers all areas of wood such as wooden objects, wooden furniture,
ethnographic wood (totem, poles etc), colored and painted wood, turned
wood,
gilded wood, structural wood, archaeological wood, wood technology and wood
sciences. It also covers all areas of lacquer and related materials etc.
ICOM-CC-Wood and Furniture 1st. International conference will cover all
these areas to present and conclude the state of the art of conservation
and
restoration in this field. We are looking forward to have a successful and
enjoyable conference.
The conference date will be decide later on accordant to the possibilities.
We need a suitable place as conference venue with presentation facilities
(such as overhead projector, slide projector, and video beamer controlled
from IBM compatible PC ?PowerPoint.) and facilities for posters
presentations (good space and standee Double-sided poster boards adequate
for standard US posters).
As the conference languages will be at least English and the host century
language so it will be good if the host place has the facilities for
simultaneous translation.
Financial assist and support will also be needed to cover the costs such as
costs for prints and Technical Committee, and also to be able to invite
some
special speakers, provide some travel supports for some presenters and to
provide some bursaries to some conservation professionals especially from
developing countries to attend the conference. (all those costs will be
flexible to be controlled and done accordant to the available fund).
