The State Library of Victoria is pleased to announce the availability
of two new positions in its Collection Preservation and Access
Division.

Digital Preservation Specialist
Position no. 4503, Band 3
3 year fixed term contract

In an emerging and priority area for the Library, this is an
opportunity for a specialist to establish the Library's digital
preservation plan, including all macro and micro preservation
strategies. The successful applicant will be a professional and will
lead the planning for digital preservation services in the
redeveloped Library. A combination of superior technical and
supervisory skills are required to manage the Library's variety of
information available in electronic form and coordinate relevant
tenders, contracts, consultancies and service agreements.

Preservation Metadata Specialist
Position no. 4502, Band 3
3 year fixed term contract

A new and challenging opportunity exists for a specialist to provide
preservation metadata for digitally recorded materials. The
successful applicant will be responsible for creating and recording
the technical details on format, structure and use of the growing
volume of digitally recorded collection material. You will also
develop a method to record the history of changes made to the
resources, as well as authenticity and rights information applicable
to preservation actions. High order technical skills in digital object
management are essential as are proven skills in supervision.
