Preparing metal coupons

Properly speaking the washing process should be done in an ultrasonic
bath
to get  coupons which are debris-free.  However...the philosophic
question
is whether one  wants to study processes at an artificially clean
surface..or whether one should study surfaces which approximate real
life.
