This is in response to the discussion about deacidifying
newsprint and other paper materials. Non-aqueous
deacidification spray products have been shown to be very
effective for this use. These products neutralize acids and
provide a protective buffer of alkaline material that protects
the paper from external sources of acid. The treatment is
effective for a wide range of materials, even paper which is
fairly heavy. The manufacturer can provide specific guidelines
for using the product.
Our company recently introduced Archival Mist for use in the
framing market. The product is based on our long experience
with mass deacidification using the Bookkeeper process for
libraries and archives.
