Re: Societies and Associations
>>>with respect I know more Americans who use the Guild's
qualification, GCF
than European CPF's-<<<
I'm not sure how CPF's and GCF's got involved, but I
probably know all of them too. :-)
Your original query that my answer was framed for was
>>>I'd like to get some more detailed information to make
sure that what I am doing is best practice. Is there an
association that specialises in framers as conservators.
I've looked at a couple here in England, but one doesn't
seem to be serious about conservation framing and the other
doesn't seem to be keen on framers joining.<<<
My point was that the PPFA is serious about and has good
reference material on Preservation Framing. Please note that
I use the word preservation rather than conservation to
differentiate between what we as framers do and what
conservators do.
>>>but my point was that we are often called
upon to re-frame works of a possibly high value. I work in
an
affluent neighbourhood and frame work of value. Does the CPF
offer an indemnity insurance programme for framers?<<<
This is a totally different matter than what I took your
original query to be.
First of all, CPF is a certification program started by the
PPFA in the 1980's and as such does not provide any
"insurance". That is under membership benefits
PPFA does offer a business insurance program for framers in
the US and Canada. Insurance programs are by nature country
specific. Even in the US there are some areas where the
underwriters will not provide coverage for PPFA members.
If by indemnity insurance, you mean coverage for accidental
damage caused by the framer, yes the PPFA plans do provide
that. Again, not much help to you in the UK. If you mean
something else by indemnity insurance, like to hold
harmless, you will need to explain it to me.
As I think about it, do you mean something like, "If I
follow the XXXX's guidelines no one can bring a suit against
me"?
