The section works to the highest standard on objects needed for exhibition, loan and research, often to tight deadlines, and also contributes to the Museum's preventive conservation strategies. Essential work is also carried out on the reserve collections in store and on recent acquisitions. The type of material which might be worked on would take in unfired clay, including an internationally important collection of cuneiform tablets; fired ceramics, of which the BM has outstanding collections, for example Greek vases, Islamic and medieval tiles, Chinese and European porcelain. Conservation of glass and enamels would be included. Requirement: This internship is suitable to applicants with a recognised qualification in conservation, looking to develop their skills and knowledge in the conservation of ceramics, glass and related materials and to broaden their experience in museum collections.
