Objects Conservator
International Conservation Services (ICS)

ICS has a vacancy for an experienced Objects Conservator located in
our conservation workshops in Chatswood, Sydney.  This permanent
position is available for immediate commencement.  Applications will
be considered upon submission, up until Monday 25 January 2016.

International Conservation Services (ICS) is Australia's largest
private conservation practice.  We conserve a wide range of cultural
and heritage objects and artefacts including paintings, furniture,
textiles, paper, sculpture, archaeological artefacts and wall
finishes in buildings.

Conservation work undertaken by the Objects and Outdoor Heritage
Team includes a wide range of work for public institutions and
private clients covering metal objects, sculptures, monuments and
memorials, organic and plastic objects, ceramics, stone and glass
objects, and archaeological and industrial artefacts.  The team also
regularly consults on and writes condition assessments, maintenance
plans and treatment proposals.

Responsibilities include devising and implementing appropriate
treatment methodologies, managing projects to achieve on time/on
budget outcomes, writing condition assessments, maintaining
excellent relations with key clients as required, and contributing
to smooth team functioning.  Site-based conservation may form a
significant component of work undertaken by this role, with a
requirement for both project management and hands-on technical
skills.

Applicants for this position must have:

    A minimum of 5 years experience working as an objects
    conservator

    Broad experience in objects conservation disciplines (a strong
    background in metals conservation and/or outdoor heritage will
    be highly regarded)

    Membership of the AICCM (Australian Institute for Conservation
    of Cultural Material) or equivalent other professional
    organisation, or eligibility to apply for membership

    Australian citizenship or residency is preferred ICS will
    consider visa sponsorship of an appropriately qualified
    international applicant.

Salary will be commensurate with experience in the range AUD$67,248
to $86,304 plus 9.25% superannuation.
