Workshop "New strategies for the conservation of metallic cultural heritage" INP, Galerie Colbert Paris Apr 11-12, 2016 We invite you to register (no cost) by email, indicating your name and surname. You can submit an abstract for an oral presentation to patrimoinemetallique<-at->gmail<.>com The deadline for submissions is January 28, 2016. Topic 1: non-toxic treatments for protecting corroded metallic objects In the session 1, the mechanisms of the different developed treatments will be presented through the characterization of the layers formed from the interaction between the treatment solution and the surface of the objects Session 2 will be aimed at evaluating the inhibition performances of the different treatments based on electrochemical measurements and weathering tests in climate chambers and real sites using reference coupons or metallic artefacts representative of historical collections Session 3 will be dedicated to the synergic or comparative tests of the different treatments with the validation of the application modes following the conservation-restoration deontology Topic2: treatments of corroded metallic objects in the presence of paint layers Session 4 will be dedicated to the presentation of the problems encountered in the context of conservation of painted metal collections. In session 5, exchanges will focus on the impact of the treatments on the conservation of paint layers at the surface of metallic objects. One goal of this highly multidisciplinary workshop is to ensure the dissemination of the presentations and exchanges between the different actors in charge of the conservation of metallic cultural heritage. It will assess the possibility of publication of specific protocols for the full implementation of these protection systems. A report of this workshop will be carried out and may be returned in the form of a document to assist professionals in charge of applying these treatments. This assessment will also be used to offer new research opportunities and enable the implementation of collaborative projects.
