Subject: Call for speakers--ICOM-CC Legal Issues in Conservation Working Group Interim Meeting
Call for speakers ICOM-CC Legal Issues in Conservation Working Group 2014-2017 Interim Meeting New York City June 3, 2016 The Legal Issues in Conservation Working Group is planning to hold its 2014-2017 Interim Meeting on Friday, June 3, 2016 in New York City. The goal of this meeting is to look at the rights of living artists when it comes to the restoration of their work. What rights do they have after they have sold their work, and how should conservators deal with those rights? These questions deal not only with moral and legal rights, but also with issues of artist sanction, and what say artists have in the restoration, remaking, or reinstallation of their works. The meeting will include short talks, and a Socratic dialogue modelled after the dialogue held at the 2014 ICOM-CC triennial meeting in Melbourne. You are invited to contribute a short talk on this issue including case studies and problems you have faced, or are facing in practice and/or on research you are doing in this area. Please send a title and short abstract to the Working Group Coordinator, Rebecca Rushfield, wittert<-at->juno<.>com by February 12, 2016. There are no plans to publish the contributions, nor will there be a traditional review process. Based on the number of contributions and the topics covered, the Organizing Committee may group related talks to facilitate discussion, and will determine how long the individual presentations can be. Presenters will be informed of this by March 11, 2016. Further details of the meeting will be available at the end of February 2016. *** Conservation DistList Instance 29:30 Distributed: Friday, December 18, 2015 Message Id: cdl-29-30-010 ***Received on Wednesday, 16 December, 2015
