Queensland Museum makes lasting connections, inspiring generations

environment and cultural identity.

While based at The Workshop Railways Museum, Ipswich, you will be
expected to work across and provide advice regarding conservation to
multiple museum campuses.  You will conduct all Conservation duties
in a manner which meets the brand, vision, strategic and operational
objectives of the Queensland Museum across all facilities.  As a
member of the Conservation section, you are responsible for business
as usual activities as well as projects involving other staff,
function areas, customers and partners.

Key responsibilities include:

    Undertake conservation, restoration and repair on metal-based
    objects in the QMN collections (and other media as required),
    with a focus on large technology

    Provide professional advice and assistance to QMN Programs
    concerning the conservation needs of collections, potential
    acquisitions and loans from and to the Collection

    Regularly assess and report on the condition of the existing
    collections, as held permanently or on loan by various Programs,
    for deterioration due to chemical, physical or biological
    processes, and provide appropriate conservation strategies

    Answer inquiries within the QM conservation subject area from
    any source, including provision of advice to the QM Director or
    ministerial or parliamentary questions and cabinet submissions

    Supervise staff, volunteers and contractors within a workshop
    environment while supporting quality human resource management
    practices including employment equity, anti-discrimination,
    occupational health and safety and ethical behaviour

    Take all safety measures when performing duties to ensure the
    safety of yourself and others, and comply with QM's WHS
    policies, procedures and Government legislation
