Mounted botanical samples

From: Victoria Pearce <victoria.pearce<-at->

A collection of 100 year old algae botanical samples have come into
the lab. These have been framed in the 1970s and appear to be
mounted on board with hand scribed botanical names written by the
original botanist. Unfortunately they appear pressure mounted to
the glass and they are fragile, brittle, friable and with no colour
any more.

Can anyone with experience in the long term impact of different
consolidation medium or adhesives for remounting these types of
samples get in touch. The owner does wish to reframe and display.
We are currently researching if they are salt or freshwater samples.
