Historic Royal Palaces (HRP) is the independent charity that looks
after the Tower of London, Hampton Court Palace, Kensington Palace,
the Banqueting House Whitehall, Kew Palace and Hillsborough Castle
in Northern Ireland.

Across these six sites we care for thousands of historic objects,
many of them in their original royal setting. You'll have a real
interest in our history, in the buildings and their contents and be
willing to help everyone explore how monarchs and people have shaped
society, in some of the greatest palaces ever built.

As Senior Textile Conservator with relevant qualifications and
proven technical expertise you will enable the highly complex
conservation treatments of royal tapestries, furnishings and
costumes. As an accredited professional, or able to demonstrate you
are working at this level, you will provide specialist skills and
knowledge and share insight and expertise to uphold the excellent
conservation practice of our textile conservation studios.

With proven experience in leading conservation projects, you will
also have good organisational skills and decision-making abilities,
together with demonstrable project management skills and the ability
to work to deadlines.

Reporting to the supervisor of one of our three textile conservation
work streams, you will be expected to contribute to the operational
management of conservation projects by solving problems and
evaluating the risks, and be able to deputise for the team
supervisor during absences. You will be able to advise and guide
other textile conservators to ensure that standards and quality of
hands-on treatment work are met and projects delivered to schedule.
You will also have knowledge and experience in coaching and
mentoring others, including interns.

You will be enthusiastic about communicating our conservation
activities both in writing and in person. An ability to communicate
at all levels and to a wide range of internal and external audiences
is essential.

Based at Hampton Court Palace you may be required to travel to our
other palaces on occasion. You must also be comfortable working at
heights.
