Bristol is a vibrant European city with a lively cultural offer.

Bristol Museums, Galleries and Archives (BMGA) is central to Bristol
City Council's Culture Team and at the heart of Bristol's history,
identity and global recognition. BMGA is a 'Major Partner Museum'
(MPM) receiving funding from Arts Council England (currently assured
until April 2018) in addition to its core funding from its governing
body, Bristol City Council.

Reporting to the Conservation and Documentation Manager, you will be
part of a team (5 conservators and 4 documentation officers)
responsible for collection management delivery, ensuring our
1.75million museum and gallery artefacts are accessible and cared
for correctly.

You will work closely with the curatorial team which have day to day
responsibility for the art, human history and natural science
collections in the museums and also with the archivists at the
Bristol Record Office.

The successful candidate is likely to be an experienced museum
professional with a specialist background in museum documentation.

You will demonstrate a good understanding of the collection
management issues facing museums today. BMGA use EMu for the
management of museum collections and associated digital media and
CALM for the archive collections.

The postholder will play a key role in supporting and training staff
in to how to use EMu and in developing documentation procedures in
line with current standards.

You will continue to maintain and develop further the elements of
EMu which are tailored to BMGA, working closely with KE Software
(part of the Axiell Group) and the digital/transformation team at
BMGA.

You will explore new ways to improve digitisation workflows, so as
to provide access to collections information for staff and visitors,
both on-line and in the galleries.

You will work across all staff groups as part of project management.

The successful candidate will demonstrate the knowledge, aptitude
and experience detailed in the Employee Specification.
