Call for Panelists/Presenters

AIC Book and Paper Group - Archives Conservation Discussion Group
Joint AIC 44th Annual Meeting and CAC 42nd Annual Conference
Montreal, Canada May 13-17, 2016

The Archives Conservation Discussion Group (ACDG) of the AIC Book
and Paper Group is pleased to announce the 2016 session topic:

"Innovative Approaches to Disaster Response: Real-Life Tips and
    Tricks"

The session presentations will highlight panelists' experience with
disaster planning and salvage of archival and related materials
after natural or man-made disasters. While some collections
emergencies require the intervention of disaster recovery vendors,
many institutions must address significant disasters with resources
that are immediately available. We especially solicit talks that
reflect this institutional reality and account for it in their
emergency preparedness plans. Following a series of brief
presentations, we encourage discussion among the panelists and
audience members.

Our session will emphasize new, adaptive, or practical approaches,
including those that share lessons learned from past disaster
experience, use of new technology, or reflect changes in archival or
institutional practice.

Presentations might address topics including, but not limited to:

New treatment approaches to damaged material Strategies for
recovery in high-density storage facilities Use of social media
to organize volunteers and staff Adaptation of existing
equipment or supplies for disaster recovery Solutions for
institutions with minimal recovery budgets Evolving practices in
    disaster planning and prevention

The ACDG seeks proposals for several 5-10 minute presentations. If
you are interested in participating as a member of the panel, please
contact us at the email addresses below with a short proposal
detailing your presentation topic by November 6, 2015.

Submissions should include: the title of your presentation, a brief
abstract, and a brief biographical sketch, including institutional
affiliation if applicable.

Thank you for your interest and we look forward to seeing you in
Montreal.
