Victoria and Albert Museum

Fixed term, 3 years
UKP 21,214 per annum

An exciting opportunity to train within the V&A's Conservation
Department is offered. The trainee will specialise in textile
conservation display. The training will be supervised and assessed
in the workplace throughout the paid three-year contract. The
successful candidates will work alongside experienced V&A specialist
conservators who will be undertaking the supervision and mentoring
of the candidate.

The V&A has developed its own work-based training qualification: the
V&A Conservation Diploma, accredited by British Inn Keepers
Association at Diploma level 5. This nationally recognised
qualification provides a unique opportunity for an emerging textile
conservator or historic costume graduate with a high level of
competence to further develop their practical skills, and build
their knowledge. The successful candidate will have completed a
recognised training course to degree level specialising in a
relevant area of conservation or in historic costume design and
making. They will have good practical skills and a thorough
understanding of materials and techniques appropriate to the area.
